The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday decided to hoist white flags in front of all business institutions across the country in next
seven days demanding a business-friendly environment.
The decision was made at an emergency meeting of the FBCCI board of directors at the office of the apex trade body in the city.
The meeting also decided to request the government and Bangladesh Bank not to classify as defaulters any businessmen or entrepreneurs for their failure to repay the
bank loan due to political unrest and to suspend credit interest until political stability returned.
At the meeting the business leaders expressed their grave concern over the ongoing political violence and renewed their call on all political parties for reaching a
peaceful solution.
The FBCCI urged the political leaders to consider the interest of the country’s economy and need for public order and give up violent agitation.

Businessmen were paying credit interest and workers’ wages in due time although they were bearing the brunt of political violence, he said.
