The three-day film festival featuring films of ‘golden age’ drew huge audience at the auditorium of National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
In order to celebrate 30 decades of the founding of Bangladesh Film Archive, the organisation has jointly arranged the festival with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The festival, which was inaugurated by noted playwright Syed Shamsul Haque, features five films.On the opening day, Anwar Hossain starrer Surjasnan, directed by Salauddin and Narayan Ghosh Mita’s Nil Akasher Niche, starring Razzak and Kabori, were screened.
Kazi Zahir’s Razzak and Shabana starrer film Abujh Mon and Pramadkar’s
film Sujon Sokhi, starring Kabori and Faruk, were screened on Friday.
Alamgir Kabir’s Dhire Bohe Meghna, which stars Babita and Mostafa, will be screened on the concluding day, today at 5:30pm.
People from all walks of life gathered in groups on Thursday to watch Nil Akasher Niche. ‘It was a pleasant experience to watch those beautiful films on big screen,’ told Zubair-Ul-Islam, a student of Stamford University, to
New Age.
‘We actually do not get the opportunity to watch these films on CDs and DVDs at home. So the festival gave us a chance to come with family and watch such classic films,’ said Jhuma Rani Das, a housewife from Amambag, who attended the festival with her family members.
