The five-day teleplay festival featuring single episode teleplay will end today with a view to promoting single episode plays at the Shawkat Osman Auditorium of Central Public Library.
Beginning on Sunday, the festival titled ‘Charuneedam Television Kahinichitra Utsab 2012-2013’ has been organsied by cultural organisation Charuneedam with the theme Ek Ghontar Kahinichitra Beche Thakuk Jug Jug Dhorey.
The festival features 20 teleplays that have been made within 2012 to 2013 and have already been telecast on different private television channels.
Charuneedam has been organising the festival since 2009 with a motto to promote quality teleplays. About the festival, chief of Charuneedam and also noted actor, director Gazi Rakayet told New Age that the channels are getting gradually reluctant to allotting more money for single episode plays. ‘As a result, the plays are losing quality,’ said Rakayet, who also said that even some channels have already stopped airing single episode teleplay, and that they only concentrate on drama series and other shows. ‘However, single episode plays are still very popular among people,’ added Rakayet.
Rakayet also informed that one out of the directors of those 20 plays will be awarded after the festival. ‘We will organise a separate programme in May and will confer an award on an upcoming director,’ said Rakayet.
