In association with UNICEF, Children’s Film Society Bangladesh will organise the Fifth International Children’s Film Festival, titled “Future in Frames”, starting from January 21. The weeklong festival will begin at Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Central Public Library, Shahbagh in Dhaka.
Planning Minister Air Vice Marshal (retd.) AK Khandaker will inaugurate the festival. Veteran artist and chairman of the Festival Advisory Committee, Mustafa Monwar, will preside over the programme.
Around 250 films, including full-length features, shorts, animations, and documentaries from 42 participating countries will be screened during the festival. The festival will also feature a contest on films made by children, workshops and seminars on different aspects of filmmaking.
Among the participating countries are: Argentina, Austria, Australia, Hungary, Canada, India, Iran, Italy and Bangladesh. The Central Public Library premises will be used as the main venue, while films will also be screened at 13 other venues, including Chittagong, Sylhet, Rangpur, Barisal and Rajshahi.
In Dhaka, the films will also be screened at Shishu Academy, Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Alliance Francaise de Dhaka, British Council Auditorium, Daffodil University, Al Nahian Complex in Mirpur and Bangladesh College of Leather Technology Auditorium in Hazaribagh.
