The eighth round of JB Group Bangladesh Premier League will resume on September 19 after a month gap with seventh round matches to be held in Dhaka before the league move to Sylhet for the next two rounds. Saif Global Sports Limited, who won the organising rights of the ongoing league, decided to run huge promotional activities to bring the supporters back in the gallery during the Sylhet phase, which begins on September 25.
The new format league began in Chittagong on July 24 where a notable number of spectators enjoyed first three rounds from the gallery.
Also in Mymensingh, where the fourth and fifth round’s matches were held, the organisers said they found a huge interest in local football fans.
However, the league returned to Dhaka where the sixth round games were held before almost an
empty gallery before the league went for a long break due to the national team’s camp and the Eid-ul-Azha.
After a flop show in Dhaka, Saif Global Sports decided to host a colouful ceremony in Sylhet which includes a musical concert by league’s brand ambassador Momtaz Begum and famous rock singer Aiub Bacchu.
‘After a huge gap the football fans have almost forgotten about the league,’ Saif Global Sports Limited chairman Tarafder Ruhul Amin told reporters at a press conference on Sunday.
‘We want to run a massive promotional campaign in Sylhet to raise the interest among the football fans. We will stage a concert with some renowned singers on September 23 and also introduce all 12 clubs in that occasion.’
The teams will travel Sylhet after playing the seventh round in Dhaka, scheduled on September 19-21.
After the sixth round, four teams are jointly sharing the top position with 12 points from six matches.
