Fresh admission examinations for Dhaka University’s (DU) ‘Ga’ unit will be held at 3:00pm on December 20, ATN News reported.
An emergency meeting of the university’s syndicate took the decision on Wednesday; hours after the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court directed the DU authorities to hold a fresh entrance examination by December 21.
As per the decision, only those who appeared in the controversial version of the entry test held on October 28, will be allowed to sit for the fresh test again.
The examinees have been asked to bring their previous admit card.
Earlier, the ‘Ga’ unit admission test for 2011-12 session was held on October 28 and the result was published on October 31.
Later on November 21, the university administration cancelled the admission test and set December 9 for holding a fresh admission test.
Following the cancellation of the published results, 12 students who were qualified in the admission test filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking cancellation of the authority’s decision.
The petitioners also sought to issue a rule upon the DU authorities to explain why the decision to cancel the result of the admission test and to hold fresh test should not be declared illegal.
On December 1, the High Court directed the Dhaka University authorities to re-evaluate the admission test results of “Ga” unit without taking any fresh examination.
DU authority on Monday filed an appeal for staying the High Court order directing the DU authority not to take fresh exam for ‘Ga’ unit.
