The Khulna City Corporation has stopped the renovation work of 40 damaged city roads because of insufficient fund. The KCC started this renovation project for 80 damaged roads involving Tk 200 crore in the last financial year. The work orders were issued in February and March this year after completing the official formalities through inviting tenders from the contractors.
But the renovation works of 40 roads
have not been completed allegedly for insufficient fund.
Mirzapur road, Sheikpara main road, Premkanon road, Gobarchaka main road, Sonar Bangla
School road, B.K. Road, a part of Khanjahan
Ali road and Mistripara road of the city have become totally unfit for vehicular movement because of the incomplete renovation works, the local people said.
Many potholes were created on most of these roads which made these completely unfit for movement, they added.
A resident of Mirzapur road, Kamrul Islam, said that the vehicles could not ply on the road as the concerned contractor stopped working in the middle of the works.
Contractors said that they could not continue
the work as the KCC stopped their financial support.
The city mayor, Md Moniruzzaman Moni, said that incomplete renovation works would start again after getting fund from the government.
