The six-day National Furniture Fair 2010 in the city witnessed a large number of buyers and visitors on the concluding day on Saturday.
The fair, organised by the Bangladesh Furniture Industries Owners’ Association, began at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city on December 6.
Organisers said that their sales were satisfactory in the fair and the home furniture were best sold while the visitors and buyers said that they bought locally made quality furniture.
‘I bought a quality wooden cot from a stall for Tk 37,000 and am satisfied with its artistic quality,’ said Md Abdul Hai, a retired government staff living in Mohammadpur in the city.
Rina Begum, a housewife from Mirpur 10 area in the city bought a sofa set from the fair.
‘Quality of furniture in the fair was really good,’ she said.
Different companies participating in the fair offered discounts ranging between five per cent
and 33 per cent and special gifts to attract buyers.
The companies showcased products of both usual and experimental designs at their stalls.
‘Our expectation was fulfilled and we are happy with the sales,’ said Navana Furniture sales executive Md Ziaur Rahman Rasel while talking to New Age.
‘Home furniture was the best sold item,’ he said.
‘We are enthusiastic that we have got huge response and sale order,’ said Abdullah Wood Complex proprietor Md Mobarak Hossain.
Seventy-eight furniture manufacturing houses showcased their products in 170 stalls in the fair.
