Activists of Ganajagaran Mancha, campaigning for months demanding capital punishment to the war criminals, have threatened to go for tougher movement after Eid-ul-Azha if their six-point demand is not met by this time. The spokesperson for the platform, Imran H Sarkar, on Friday urged the government to immediately fulfil their demands, including banning Jamaat-Shibir and the financial institutions run by the two organisations.
While addressing a brief rally in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in the capital, he said that the government was yet to take steps to meet their demands.
Imran also said the government should file an appeal against the verdict of international crimes tribunal that awarded BNP leader Abdul Alim imprisonment till death on Wednesday.
Demanding execution of all the verdicts by December 16, coordinator Maruf Rasul said that there was no alternative but to fulfil their demands.
Talking to New Age, some activists said that they would soon hold talks with country’s political and cultural personalities and professionals to drum up support for the movement.
