Gazi Tank Cricketers can seal the Dhaka Premier League title today if they beat Mohammedan Sporting Club and their nearest challengers, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club, lose against Kalabagan Cricket Academy in the penultimate round. A victory for Gazi Tanks, on 20 points, coupled with a defeat for Prime Doleshwar on 18 points will clinch the title for the former with the final round still to play.
If Prime Doleshwar win against Kalabagan Cricket Academy at Fatullah and Gazi Tanks go down in defeat in their match against Mohammedan then both the sides will be locked on 20 points going into the final round.
Meanwhile, a win for both Gazi Tanks and Prime Doleshwar will also mean the championship will go right down to the wire.
The most intriguing prospect is that the final round will pit Gazi Tanks and Prime Doleshwar against each other at Fatullah on Wednesday.
In the event of both sides finishing on the same number of points after the final round, the head-to-head equation will come into play, which would mean the team that comes out victorious at Fatullah on Wednesday would claim the prestigious title.
Though two points separate Gazi Tanks and Prime Doleshwar, the latter will be confident before the penultimate round today.
The corresponding fixture between the sides in the round-robin stage was won by Prime Doleshwar, albeit by just three runs.
In the other fixture of the penultimate round, third-place Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will face Prime Bank Cricket Club at Mirpur.
