Galleri Kaya in Uttara has organised a big exhibition titled Glimpses marking the 10th founding anniversary of the gallery.
The show displays 39 selected paintings of the artists who exhibited their works in Galleri Kaya over the past one decade. Galleri Kaya, one of the leading art galleries in Bangladesh, over the last 10 years has arranged 65 art exhibitions of which 45 were solos and 20 were group art expositions.The best works of the leading artists done in different mediums in the ongoing show portray nature and people in bright, vibrant colours. Murtaja Baseer’s painting ‘Face’ portrays a woman clad in a saree. Her long black hair is tied nicely in a traditional bun ornamented with white flower.
Another seasoned artist Qayyum Choudhury in his landscape painting presents the serenity of the Jamuna River in shades of blue. The canvas with fishes, boats, bird and clouds give urban audiences an essence of the rural landscape that they miss.
The exhibition also showcases Rafiqun Nabi’s famous painting titled ‘Crow’. This masterpiece is also a center of interest for many.
Another versatile artist Hamiduzzaman Khan portrayed a landscape of hilly region titled On the Hill in acrylic. Mountain and sky dominate the painting where an ethnic woman is carrying her baby on her back in her traditional community style.
The Galleri Kaya’s retrospective show also features artworks by other renowned artists like Aminul Islam, Nitun Kundu, Shamarjit Roy Choudhury, Hashem Khan, Monirul Islam, Kalidas Karmakar, Monsur-ul-Karim, and others.
‘Paintings with themes revolving around people and landscape have been nicely displayed in this exhibition. These canvases add to our imagination of nature and rural beauty,’ Mou studying fashion design, visiting the exhibition told New Age.
The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of the late artists Aminul Islam and Nitun Kundu and will end on August 5.
