Monsoon always inspires dreaming and fascinates the artists, poets, lyricists, and the dramatists to nurture their creativity. The marvelous look of the refreshing green after a moderate rain has always been a great inspiration for young artist Alley Khan to transform her personal emotions onto canvas.
As an orator of the rain, the romantic artist has illustrated the beauty of shower in different dimensions on her figurative paintings depicting boats, women, soggy weather and many more.
Her aesthetically rich compositions feature human forms, cubic forms, and lines. Blend of green with dark shades gives an impression of gloomy weather while presence of green repeatedly in most of the 16 displayed compositions represents the tranquility of nature at Café la Veranda at Alliance Franchise de Dhaka in Dhanmondi.
The exhibition titled “The Rain” is her second solo.
Women’s freedom has been expressed symbolically in Alley khan’s composition where the artist has portrayed a couple of women who seemed taking bath in rain with bold lines. Colourful attire of the women makes this composition vivid.
Another acrylic painting depicts nature in a surrealistic form. In this work black background represents the rage of nature while green colour symbolically stands for loving Mother Nature.
Rain and boats are indispensible parts in rural Bangladesh. The young artist has depicted boats, the means of transport to travel during rain in many areas, in symbolic manner in few artworks.
This freelance artist who has completed five-year diploma in painting and drawing from BAFA has participated in several group exhibitions in Bangladesh and abroad. Her first solo painting exhibition titled Loneliness was also held at Alliance Française de Dhaka in November 2010.
Bangladesh Art, Literature and Cultural Council advisor Md Khairul Alam inaugurated the exhibition on September 18.
Exhibition will remain open for all from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm till October 1, except Sundays.
