Goethe Institut is observing World Environment Day, which fell on June 5, through screening of six films at the Berlin Hall of
the institut in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
As a part of the screening session, today Thilo Ewer’s ‘They Will Come to Town’ will be screened. The film is about the alarming global
warming effect on the world.The second film to be screened on the day would be Valentin Thurn’s documentary ‘Taste The Waste’. The film depicts the fact that on the way from the farm to the dining-room table, more than half the food lands on the dump. The film also shows that European households throw away 100 billion Euros worth of food each year.
Tomorrow, Katrin Rothe’s ‘So What Are You Doing About Climate Change’ and Udo Maurer’s ‘About Water’ will be screened at the same hall. The first film is about global warming while the second film is about water pollution.
On the opening day of the session, Peter Wedel’s The Bill and Andreas Stimlmeyer’s ‘People. Dreams. Actions’ were screened. The first film shows three friends meeting in a bar where they start talking about their lives, cars, holidays, energy and diet representing a range of ‘climate sins’ committed by them.
The second film is also about how people’s actions cause harm to the environment.
The screening begins at 6:00pm.
