Gold worth about Tk 2.5 crore was seized from two passengers at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong Sunday morning.
The immigration police detained Ikbal and Rashed, resident of Raojan of the district with 53 gold bars weighing over six kilogram after they came to the airport in a Fly Dubai Airways flight from Dubai.
The airport custom officials found the gold bars while searching their body and handed them over to the immigration police.
The airport customs assistant commissioner, Sushanta Paul, said acting on secret information they searched Iqbal and found 28 hidden gold bars.
Another 25 bars were found when they searched another passenger, Rashedul, of the same flight, passing through the immigration area, he added.
He said, the two passengers claimed that they were unknown to each other and they both attached the gold bars to their body illegally.
A case would be filed against them, Sushanta added.
Another man was detained with 17 kg gold bars at Chittagong Shah Amanat Airport on July 23.
