Govt seeks ADB aid
The government yesterday sought financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to conduct a feasibility study for the Dhaka-Chittagong elevated expressway.
Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain conveyed the message to a three-member ADB team at his secretariat office in the city.
Sultan Hafeez Rahman, director general (DG) of South Asia Department of ADB, led the team.
The minister also sought ADB’s financial help for feasibility study for the Jamuna Railway Bridge connecting Phulchhari and Bahadurabad ghats.
He told the DG that the ADB helped the government a lot to upgrade the communication networks including the railway and highways, urging the donor bank to continue its aid.
The ADB is one of the donors in Padma Multipurpose Bridge construction project, and it is also financing in reforming the railway sector.
