The government as well as the citizens of the country should come forward to ensure rights of people with disabilities so that they can contribute to the development of the country.
People should give more opportunities instead of negligence to the people with disability so that they can uphold their dignity in society, said speakers in a seminar titled ‘The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities’ at Rajshahi University Sunday afternoon.
The law department of the university and the National Forum of Organisations Working with Disabled jointly organised the seminar at Rabindra Arts building.
The speakers urged the government to enhance facilities at the educational institutions for the students with disabilities so that they can use their skills for the country.
Nafees Rahman, director of NFOWD, presented the keynote at the seminar while Professor Ahsanul Kabir chairman of law department presided over the function.
Among others, law department teachers Md Abdul Alim, Md Rafiqul Islam, KMS Tareq, Sadequl Islam and Shibly Islam addressed the programme.
