Grameenphone Limited, Bangladesh’s largest cellular operator, will pair up with Channel i to provide information services to farmers.
Jon Fredrik Baksaas, president and CEO of Telenor Group, largest shareholder in Grameenphone, expressed his willingness while visiting the headquarters of Channel i.
Telenor Group, headquartered in Norway, is one of the world’s major mobile operators with 195 million subscribers, revenues of NOK 91 billion (2009), and 34,000 employees.
It operates in 11 markets in Nordic, Central and Eastern Europe and Asian region, also holding approx. 40 percent stake in VimpelCom Ltd.
Baksaas, who’s been spearheading Telenor since 2002, is visiting Dhaka to join the inauguration programme of GPHouse, new head office of Grameenphone. Odvar Hesjedal, CEO of Grameenphone accompanied Baksaas during the visit.
