The Grameenphone Bha-tiary Golf Cup 2009 was inaugurated yesterday (Friday) at the Bhatiary Golf and Country Club (BGCC) in Chittagong, said a press realease.
Brigadier General A M M Wazed Thakur, ndc, psc Commandant Bangladesh Military Academy and Vice President Administration and Finance Bhatiary Golf and Country Club inaugurate the tournament. Rubaba Dowla, Chief Communications Officer, of Grameenphone Ltd., was the Special Guest on the occasion.
Local and expatriate members of the club and other golfers are taking part in this prestigious golf tournament.
Later in the evening Major General Mohammad Shamim Chowdhury, nwc, psc General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division and Senior Vice President of BGCC distributed prizes to the winners of the tournament.
Grameenphone has been sponsoring the President Cup Golf Tournament since 2007.
It may be mentioned that Grameenphone has been supporting many sports events in the country namely, cricket, tennis, kabadi, indigenous wrestling, as well as golf, among other sporting events, over the past several years.
