Grameenphone on Wednesday launched a vessel tracking system for Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation at the telecom operators’ headquarters in the city.
Through this innovative system, BIWTC will be able to track water
vessels like ferry, streamer and tug.Shipping minister Shajahan Khan, BIWTC chairman Mojibor Rahman, Grameenphone chief marketing officer Allan Bonke and chief corporate affairs officer Mahmud Hossain were present at the launch.
Allan Bonke said, ‘Rivers have always played a dominant role on the economy, society and culture of Bangladesh. Through this initiative Grameenphone would be able to build a strong river network that will bring positive impact on the society.’
‘This tracking system will not only be helpful for BIWTC to increase their operational excellence but also will provide significant support during the crucial times like natural disasters,’ he added.
