Rupert Grint has revealed that he had been “dreading” his kiss with Harry Potter co-star Emma Watson and found the entire experience “weird”.
Despite claims to the contrary, the 22-year-old confessed to feeling uncomfortable during the passionate scene for Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, as he considers Watson to be more of a family member than a colleague.
“It sounds stupid, but I never really saw it coming,” he told Bang Showbiz. “It has always been hinted at but I never thought to the extent where at the end, we’re quite like a couple. The kiss was one of the first scenes we filmed. It was weird. I kind of built up this thing in my head.
“We were both kind of dreading it, just because we’ve known each other since we were small. It’s like kissing your sister.”
As well as the uncomfortable kiss, Grint confessed to being challenged by numerous other emotional scenes in the final instalment of the film franchise.
“This film is the first time I really had to do that. There is one scene with the whole Weasley family. It was depressing to do and it’s quite shocking because it’s a character we’ve associated with jokes and mucking about.
“It’s quite horrible. There have been a lot of heavy, emotional scenes like that. It’s satisfying though. But it’s haunting as well, because I’m not really used to it. He’s got a lot more depth now and he’s a lot more complicated than in previous films. It’s kind of nice.”
Watson previously stated that she had to grit her teeth during filming of her romantic moment with Grint.
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part One is released in UK and US cinemas on November 19.
