Guardians protest ‘irregularity’ in Ctg
Angry guardians of admission aspirants to a school in the port city yesterday blocked the road at WASA intersection protesting ‘irregularity’ in the admission process.
A four-kilometre long tailback was there for about two hours for the agitation that ended after police intervention.
Bangladesh Mohila Somitee (BAWA) Girls High School and College arranged a lottery session yesterday for the examinees who qualified after a viva for admission to preparatory class one (prep-one).
The guardians alleged that they angered as the school authority tried to hold the lottery draw in absence of them.
Jahangir Alam, a guardian, said the school authority while distributing admission forms confirmed us that the lottery session will be held in presence of the guardians.
“But, the authority denied to allow guardians at the lottery session just before the draw phase.”
Acting Principal Anwara Begum of BAWA school rejected the allegation arguing that they were doing all things fairly. “There is no chance for open lottery draw system here,” she said.
Anwara added they declared admission by lottery after a viva, but some guardians created an untoward situation.
However, the situation became normal after the school authority declared an open lottery draw.
