Former England fielding coach Richard Grant Halsall has joined Bangladesh Cricket Board as the national team’s fielding coach for next two years, said the officials on Sunday.
Halsall, the Zimbabwe-born cricketer, who will replace Australian Corey Richard, completed his official formalities on Sunday when he arrived at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
Halsall already had the opportunity to work with the Tigers for a month during their tour of West Indies when he was hired on an interim basis. He could not make a permanent deal due to his agreement with the England Cricket Board that ended on October 3.
‘An experienced coach like him is always helpful for any side and we hope that he would be able to deliver according to his reputatation,’ BCB’s media committee chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters.
‘Earlier we appointed him on a temporary basis due to his engagement with the ECB,’ said Jalal.
