Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza and expressed her profound shock at the deaths of innocent civilians in the attacks.
Hasina expressed her condemnation when the envoys of seven Arab countries–Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Kuwait, Libya and Qatar–called on her at Sudha Sadan yesterday.
Briefing reporters, former ambassador Mohammad Jamir said the Awami League chief and the envoys hoped that the “brotherly” relationship between Bangladesh and the Muslim countries would be strengthened in the days to come.
Hasina urged the Arab envoys to recruit more workforces from Bangladesh and ensure necessary facilities for Bangladeshis working in their countries.
Meanwhile, Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury yesterday expressed his grave concern over the deteriorating situation in Gaza.
“Bangladesh’s position on the issue of Palestine is well-known. But right now our principal worry is the situation in Gaza. The fighting must be stopped forthwith. Further killings of innocent civilian are totally unacceptable”, the adviser said in a statement.
