Hassan Miah and Sonia Akter of BKSP became the fastest boy and girl in the two-day long 32nd National Junior (aged-level) Athletics Championship that began at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday. Hassan set a new national record in the 100-metre sprint finishing in 10.60 seconds as he broke the previous record of 10.70 seconds set by BKSP’s Ashrafuzzaman Rochi. Sultan Sanjeed of Noakhali finished second.
Meanwhile, in girl’s 100-metre sprint winner Sonia took 12.55 seconds to grab the gold while her team-mate Rupa Akter finished second.
Tahmina Akter of BKSP also set a new national record in the shot-put event covering 10.42-metre.
