Chandika Hathurusingha on Friday vehemently denied getting any offer to become Bangladesh national team’s head coach although the Bangladesh Cricket Board claimed that they are close to inking a deal with him. ‘I don’t know where you are getting these things,’ Hathurusingha told a private TV channel. ‘I am very happy what I am doing here,’ said Hathurusingha, currently the assistant coach of New South Wales.
When asked whether the BCB had made any offer, Hathurusingha was furious.
‘I don’t want to talk to anyone and I don’t know who you are and I am receiving calls from [journalists] every other day,’ he said.
‘I just don’t know what purpose you are talking about. I just don’t want to talk to anybody because it is not good for my job here,’ he added.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan, however, said on Friday that they are yet to make a decision on Hathurusingha, with whom they are talking.
‘We are talking with two coaches – Hathurusingha and another one,’ Nazmul told reporters.
‘We are yet to finalise anyone from them, though both of them are ready to join us.
‘There are terms and conditions, salary and clearance to be sorted out,’ said Nazmul.
‘We hope to finalise the coach by next Monday,’ he added.
Bangladesh head coach’s post fell vacant after Shane Jurgensen quit last month.
Bangladesh’s immediate task is to prepare for the three match one-day series against India starting from May 15.
