Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusinghe will have the final say in Sakib al Hasan’s hopes of playing in Australia’s Big Bash Twenty20 tournament, said a Bangladesh Cricket Board official on Sunday. Sakib has formally sought no objection certificate from the BCB to play in the Big Bash from the first week of January, though he is yet to reveal the name of his franchise.BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that they had received his prayer and will approve it soon after they get the opinion from coach Hathurusinghe, who is currently on leave.
Sakib fall apart with Hathurusinghe when he was denied a permission to play in the Caribbean Premier League for a certain period earlier this year which eventually led him to a six-month ban.
The BCB eventually lifted his ban and also withdrew a restriction on playing in the overseas league paving the way for him to play in the Big Bash.
BCB chief executive said Sakib has asked for a NOC from the first week of January.
‘The preparation camp for the World Cup is underway so it is very important to take coaches observations,’ he said.
‘If everything goes in order he will be available for Big Bash,’ he said.
Sakib meanwhile said he is yet to get the confirmation from the franchise that he is expected to represent.
‘I am also not sure where I am going to play,’ said Sakib.
‘I would be delighted to announce the name of my team to everyone but it is yet not confirmed,’ said Sakib, who played for Adelaide Sixers last year.
It was earlier reported that the all-rounder had been negotiating with Melbourne Renegades for this season.
