The hockey players decided to boycott the domestic leagues league including the national team’s training camp unless they get an assurance from the Bangladesh Hockey
Federation about the time frame of the transfer window.
The decision was made at a meeting of the players at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.
National team skipper Zahid Hossain informed they have decided not to participate in the national and domestic games.
‘Last year the player transfers were held in February. The transfer window was also scheduled to open in February this year but the BHF continued to defer it. Now we want assurance from the federation about the player transfers date. We have decided to boycott all
kinds of hockey affairs until the federation took any initiative regarding the player transfers,’ said Zahid.
‘We don’t get any wages from the federation playing for the national team and only the league gives us some money, so we were forced to take such step,’ he added.
