The interim committee of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation postponed the inter-club hockey players’ transfer which is supposed to be held from July 2-4.
The BHF announced in a press release that they were unable to organise the players’ transfer due to the National Sports Council who are yet to release the official gazette of the election.
The NSC was supposed to issue the circular regarding the BHF election on Thursday but delayed it after an order from the High Court.
A court order to provide the councillorship to umpire Mahbubul Huq Mitu, secretary of the Hockey Umpires’ Welfare Association, has completely changed the scenario.
The writ petition was submitted by Mitu a day before the scheduled date of election on Thursday.
The NSC was still to find the way out from the tangle.
‘We are finding the way out and I hope we will publish the circular this week,’ said Haiul Quaiyum, director (sports) and election commissioner of the BHF elections.
In the circumstances, Safayat Hossain, provisional general secretary of the BHF informed that they will be unable to organise the players’ transfer before handing over the charge to the newly-elected committee.
Meanwhile, six premier division clubs – Mohammedan SC, Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club, Wari Club, Bangladesh SC, Ajax Sporting Club and Dhaka Wanderers Club earlier said that they will be unable to participate in the changed conditions.
