National hockey players, who are continuing their boycott of all hockey events, are now demanding the resignation of Bangladesh Hockey Federation general secretary Khawaja Rahmatullah and threatened that if he is elected to the post in the forthcoming federation
elections they will not end their boycott.Russell Mahmud Jimmy, national team forward, confirmed their stand against the present general secretary.
`Two days ago, we placed our three demands to the federation’s general secretary [Rahmatullah] that included the announcement of the player transfers date, introduction of quota system for BKSP players and reduction of foreign players quota from five to three, but he refused to accept any of our demands and so we want him to resign his post,’ said Jimmy at a press briefing at the Maulana Bhasani National Stadium on Wednesday.
`We did not ever see this type of controversial men as the federation general secretary and if he voted as the GS in the upcoming election we will continue our boycott,’ he added.
The national players are now desperately trying to meet the federation president Air Marshal Enamul Bari to submit their demands to him.
`We always respect our federation president and we want to talk to him on this issue,’ Jimmy said.
The BHF called a league committee meeting on Saturday to discuss about players’ two demands – BKSP and foreign players’ quota – but the national players said they will continue their boycott if all of their three demands are not fulfilled by the federation.
