The stalemate in hockey could be over soon as the Bangladesh Hockey Federation announced the date for player transfers from July 2-4.
The announcement came following a meeting of the club officials with the BHP president
Air Marshal Enamul Bari late on Saturday. The national players, who continued to boycott the Asia Cup training camp since May 15 demanding a date for the transfer window, said they are now happy with the decision and will return to the camp soon.
‘I think this is a victory of the players. We have a meeting tomorrow (today). Hopefully the players will return to the camp soon,’ said Ariful Haque Prince, general secretary of the Bangladesh Hockey Players’ Welfare Association.
Club officials said, apart from the player transfers, they also discussed a number of issues relating to the forthcoming election of the federation with the president.
‘We raised our objection regarding the National Sports Council’s nomination of five councillors from Abahani alone. BHF president assured us he will look into the matter,’ said Hasanullah Khan, the general secretary of Dhaka Mariner Young.
Khan added that they also demanded the inclusion of federation joint secretary Alamgir Kabir in the newly-formed councillors scrutiny committee and the demand was met readily.
