Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty capped a fabulous two-week run at the box office with Rs. 100 crore in its kitty on Friday. The film released on June 6,
reports Hindustan Times.
The film, starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, opened to good reviews and earned over Rs. 40 crore in the first weekend itself. In face of hardly any competition next week (the only release was Fugly) the film maintained its successful run at the ticket windows. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film is a remake of his Southern hit Thupakki.
Salman Khan-starrer Jai Ho (Rs 116 crore) and Alia-Arjun-starrer 2 States (Rs 102 crore) are the other films which entered Rs. 100 crore club in 2014. Holiday will soon overtake 2 States’ collections.
This is Akshay’s third film in the hallowed club after Rowdy Rathore and Housefull 2. Holiday is the 29th movie to join the club. Dhoom 3, Chennai Express, and Krrish 3 are on top of the list.
With Humshakals — the big Hindi release of the week getting negative reviews, Holiday has an opportunity to become the biggest grosser of the year.
