The crowd at the Bangladesh Computer Samity Digital Expo-2013 in the Rajshahi city peaked on Friday and Saturday. A huge number of visitors, especially students, rushed to the fair venue to have an idea of the latest developments in computer.
Subrata Das, lecturer at a private college in the city, who was roaming the fair venue Friday evening, told New Age that the fair bears much importance for the children as this is an opportunity to be familiar with the new technology.
Housewife Shahrima Parveen, resident at Sultanabad in the city, said, ‘I have come here with my daughter to introduce her with modern technology and make her familiar with the ICT devices like computers, laptops and net books.’
Sultana Nasrin, Tanni, Zilik, Rupkatha, students of a fashion and dance academy, who visited the fair Friday afternoon, told New Age that they enjoyed the fair as there were many things to learn about modern technology.
The expo features seminar, digital photography competition, debate competition, quiz contest, painting competition for children and cultural session.
A total of 34 stalls and six pavilions have been set up at the fair venue for display and sale of most modern laptop, desktop of both local and foreign brands, pen-drive, soft wares, digital camera and brochures on information technology.
The fair remains open for visitors from 4:00pm to 8:00pm every day with an entry fee of Tk 10 per person. Physically-challenged people and schoolchildren, however, get free access.
Rajshahi mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton inaugurated the fair at district gymnasium on January 17 while Mainul Islam, acting president of Bangladesh Computer Somity, Fayez Ullah, director of BCS, were also present.
