Police on Tuesday recovered the body of a housemaid from a house in the capital’s Sidheshwari area.
The deceased Rashida Akter, 30, daughter of Safar Ali, was from Shibchar of Madaripur. She worked at Flat 1/13, House 5, Ananya Building at Shidshwari.
Farzana Bakul, the house owner, said Rashida went to sleep in a room on the flat after taking her dinner at about 11:45pm on Monday.
At about 3:30am on Tuesday, Farzana found Rashida hanging from the ceiling fan with a sari. The door of her room was also found open at that time, she said.
Farzana informed police who recovered the body at about 8:30am and
sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said Azam Ali, subinspector of Ramna police station.
Farzana said Rashida had been working in her house for four months but she was known to her as she (Rashida) worked earlier in her mother’s house in Madaripur.
Rashida was upset for a few days but did not tell anything about her disappointment, Farzana said.
