A housewife was found dead with stab wounds at a rented house in the capital’s Dakkhinkhan early yesterday.
Police and locals suspect that Emon Hossain killed her wife Liza Akhter, 18, sometime on Saturday and went into hiding. Police recovered
the body from the second floor of their Fayedabad residence around 1:30am.
Quoting the house owner, Ismail Hossain, Officer in-Charge of Dakkhinkhan Police Station Lokman Hekim said the flat remained locked from the outside since Saturday.
Identifying himself as a well-wisher, Emon on Tuesday night over phone told Ismail that something wrong happened in the flat, said the OC. As Ismail knew the mobile phone number of Emon, he asked the caller whether he was Emon. Without reply, the caller disconnected the phone and kept it switched off, the OC added.
Around 12:30am, Ismail and others broke open the door and found the decomposed body.
The OC said Emon might have stabbed Liza to death as he went into hiding since Saturday.
