Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday directed the law-enforcing agencies to hunt down the criminals involved in Tuesday’s arson attack on a bus at city’s Bangla Motor that left a traffic police dead, reports UNB. PM’s press secretary Abul Kalam Azad said that the Prime Minister also expressed deep shock at the death of constable Ferdous and directed the law-enforcing agencies to bring the criminals in to book.
Traffic Constable Ferdous Khalil, 40, son of Abdul Hamid Mandal of Nagervita under Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibanda was killed and another constable Faizul Islam, 40, and Bayzid, 30, driver of the bus requisitioned by police, were injured as arsonists set fire to the vehicle at Bangla Motor around 11:20pm on Tuesday, hours after the opposition alliance’s 83-hour blockade ended.
A case has been filed with the Ramna police naming 18 opposition leaders including BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. It also mentioned the involvement of another 18 to 20 unnamed persons.
The Prime Minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her profound sympathy to the bereaved family members of Ferdous.
