The International Cricket Council on Sunday dismissed the claim that in its official report on off-spinner Shohag Gazi’s bowling action contained the picture of another player.
A section of Bangladesh media on Sunday reported that in ICC’s official report on Sohag’s bowling action contained Mahmudullah’s bowling action, prompting the international body to clarify its position.
‘The report of Sohag’s bowling action, which was sent to the Bangladesh Cricket Board earlier this week, contains only photographs of Sohag,’ said the ICC in a statement.
Sohag was banned by the ICC from bowling in international cricket after analysis revealed that all of his deliveries during a biomechanical test in Cardiff exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance.
Meanwhile, A Bangladesh Cricket Board official on Sunday said that they are considering sending Sohag to Malaysia to fielding coach Mohammad Salahuddin for remodeling his action.
Salahuddin, who helped left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak rectifying his action, is currently employed in Malaysia. The cricket operations
committee of the BCB had a meeting with Salahuddin on Saturday when he was requested to work with Sohag.
But the former BKSP coach said he is already occupied with his current assignment and can help him if he visits Malaysia.
‘I cannot come right at the moment to help Sohag,’ Salahuddin told New Age. ‘But if he can come to Malaysia then certainly it would be feasible for me to help him.
The BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan added that they are considering the option.
‘There is a chance that we can send him [Sohag] in Malaysia. But the decision has to be approved by the board,’ said Akram.
