Noted Tagore singer of the country Iffat Ara Dewan entertained a house full audience presenting Tagore songs on Friday evening at the
Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre.
The seasoned singer sang 18 songs in her one and half hours show accompanied by the acoustics of violin,, table, mandira and keyboard.
The show began with a romantic number Bhora thak smritisudhay urging to keep the glorious memories upheld.
The audience enjoyed Iffat Ara’s presentation of popular romantic songs such as Bodhu michhey raag korona and Eso eso amar ghare.
The singer, whose career spanned over four decades, also proved her mastery on the music genre while rendering sentimental songs like Tumi robey nirobey, Har manale gow, Bondhu tomay korbo raja and others.
Iffat Ara wrapped up the show rendering a very popular devotional song Amr-e tumi oshesh korechho in her signature style.
Iffat Ara Dewan has been singing in Bangladesh Television and Betar since 1968. Her melodious and a little husky voice earned her wide popularity as a Tagore singer in the country.
Iffat Ara Dewan received her early training in music through a 5-year music course at Chhayanaut in Dhaka. Subsequently, she specialised in Rabindra Sangeet and Old Bangla songs.
