The three-daylong annual Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslims, is going to be held from January 30 at the bank of Turag river at Tongi in Gazipur.
Tabligh Jammat sources said all preparations for the ijtema are almost near complete. Devotees of local and different countries started coming to the venue.
The district administration has taken some measures to make the Ijtema a success. Army personnel are assisting the preparatory work of the annual mammoth gathering.
Mussallies of different ages and professions have been putting their efforts and working shoulder to shoulder voluntarily for ensuring all facilities of the devotees.
Besides non-government organisations (NGO) would also provide medical and other facilities to the participants without cost.
State Minister for Home Affairs Tanjim Ahmed Sohel Taz visited the ijtema ground and expressed his satisfaction over the security measures taken by the law enforcing agencies.
He also directed the law enforcing agencies to provide utmost safety and security for the devotees (mussuis). The Fire Brigades would be deployed in the ijtema ground.
This year around ten thousand security personnel including police, RAB and members of detective branches would be deployed to the ground. RAB personals already established close circuit cameras for ensuring foolproof security of the mussallies. Police also established a temporary camp at the ground of Bangladesh Telephone Silpa Sangstha.
A high official of law enforcing agencies on condition of anonymity said members of detective branch in disguise of mussalies would stay at the ground from today.
The traffic police are working round the clock to free the adjacent roads from traffic congestions. Police also urged not to make any sound from loudspeaker except the ijtema programme from Gazipur intersection to the city’s Kuril rail crossing during the event.
The district administration of Gazipur has taken decision on not to allow rickshaws for plying on the road from Tongi Bazar to Cherug Ali area on the final day of ijtema. All the cinema halls in the area would remain close during the period of ijtema.
The Akheree Munajat of ijtema would be held on February 1. Moulana Zubaeerul Hasan from Delhi would officiate the munajat.
