Says Mahila Parishad
Bangladesh Mahila Parishad placed a 13-point recommendation, including raising the number of reserved seats for women in parliament to 100 and holding direct elections to those seats.
The parishad placed the suggestions at a meeting in the capital’s Cirdap auditorium yesterday.
Pointing out the attack on the Buddhists, Maleka Banu, general secretary of the Parishad, demanded that the government ensure the rights of all minority and ethnic groups, especially ethnic women.
She demanded that the government ensures equal rights of women in every sector, including equal inheritance rights.
Ayesha Khanom, president of the Parishad, and Mujahidul Islam Selim, general secretary of Communist Party of Bangladesh, also spoke at the meeting.
