The Bangladesh Hockey Federation is planning an international hockey tournament in December following a proposal from an event management company.
BHF officials did not want to discuss the matter, but a source confirmed the plans on the condition of anonymity. The tournament budget is approximately Tk 1.5 crore and the event management company has verbally agreed to sponsor the competition.
The BHF wants to hold the tournament from December 12-25 with the participation of India, Pakistan,
South Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and hosts Bangladesh.
The plans are, however, still in the preliminary stages and BHF officials do not want to comment until the tournament is confirmed. The BHF also needs permission from the Asian Hockey Federation to host the meet and confirmations from the participating teams.
A preliminary discussion between BHF officials took place on Monday to plan the tournament. The competition will be recommended at the next governing body meeting before addressing the participating countries.
