Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation made a good start in the Walton Refrigerator International Invitational Women’s Kabaddi Tournament beating Assam by 26-17 points with a ‘lona’ in the opening match at the Dhaka Kabaddi Stadium Sunday.
In the day’s other match, West Bengal beat Andhra Pradesh 37-33 with a ‘lona’ at the same venue. The match locked 15-15 points during the first half.
Earlier, film star Elias Kanchan, also the executive director of the meet’s sponsor RB Group (Walton), inaugurated the five-team tournament in the afternoon.
Five teams—Nepal National team, West Bengal, Assam and Andhra Pradesh teams of India alongside lone local side BJMC—are taking part in the 5-day meet scheduled for August 25-29, initially on league basis.
