There have long been whisperings about Meghan Markle’s alleged political aspirations.
Now, the Mail on Sunday reports, Meghan Markle could be in the running to replace the late California Senator Dianna Feinstein, who passed away earlier this week.
The Duchess of Sussex’s interest in politics is no big secret – and it has previously been reported that she was getting guidance from California Governor Gavin Newsom. Now it has been reported that phones “lit up” with talk of Meghan making a run for office to replace the late Sen. Feinstein.
A major Democratic donor close to Californian Governor Gavin Newsom – who will choose Feinstein’s replacement – told the Mail on Sunday: “Meghan is definitely a long shot but in the craziness that is US politics these days it’s not an impossibility. “Crazier things have happened.”
Previously, royal biographer Tom Bower told Express US that Meghan was trying to get into the political fold and it will show itself in the ‘a year or two.’
Moreover, Nick Bullen of True Royalty’s commentary also opined to Fox News Digital that it would be “fascinating” to see Meghan “make it to White House” amid the royal rift.
It was also reported in April that Meghan has hired Michelle Obama’s former press chief Katie McCormick Lelyveld, per The Sun.
