International School Dhaka on Thursday celebrated World Teachers’ Day recognizing its diverse and international teacher faculty from over 30 different countries.
This year’s theme for the day was ‘The teachers we need for the education we want: The global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage’, said a press release.
On the occasion of celebrating the day, each teacher in the Secondary School received a personalised note of appreciation from the secondary administrative leadership team, read the release.
‘I am incredibly fortunate to work with such an amazing team of educators in the ISD secondary school. Each day they make tremendous impacts on the lives of our students as learners and as young people’, Secondary School principal Chris Boyle said.
‘It is important to reflect on the support that teachers require to fully deploying their talent and vocation. Teachers provide a strong support system to students as well as the whole school community’, said primary principal David Longworth.
‘At ISD, we see our teachers as the primary driver behind the school’s success. We offer our teachers extensive professional development opportunities to participate in face-to-face and virtual workshops in school and attend regional sessions’, ISD director Steve Calland-Scoble said.
World Teachers’ Day, held annually on 5 October, celebrates the work of teachers, commemorates the signing of a recommendation by the International Labour Organisation and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.- Press release
