Bangladesh captain Sakib al Hasan admitted that crisis time had arrived for his team after the Tigers succumbed to a comprehensive seven-wicket defeat against Zimbabwe in the second one-day international match in Harare on Sunday.
Bangladesh now face a must win situation to stay alive in the series after going down 2-0 in the five match one-day series.
‘You can say that its crisis time,’ said Sakib at the post-match presentation ceremony.
‘We have been outplayed in three games and we all have to put our hands up.
‘It is not only about me or someone else, it is about the team and we have to show the world we are good enough to compete,’ added Sakib
The all-rounder bemoaned the failure of the team’s top-order batsmen to provide the platform for a good total after they were once again undone by the brilliance of Brian Vitori.
‘We did not bat well, simple as that,’ said Sakib.
‘The wicket was good to bat on and I think the wicket we should be scoring 260 runs every time we play here.
‘But our top order is not getting runs. If the top three or four batsman don’t score runs then it is it is hard for the lower order to come in and score,’ added Sakib.
