Director Abu Shahed Emon’s Jalaler Galpo has been invited to the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne-2015 beginning today, adding to the growing list of recognitions for the feature-length film.
The festival is mainly an event for the Indian films but it also includes a section for South Asian films under which jalalar Galpo has been invited. Besides, three films from Pakistan and one each from Nepal andBhutan have also been invited.
Bollywood stars Sonom Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Anil Kapoor, and Imran Khan will be the guests at the festival.
Earlier, Jalaler Galpo won the best picture award in the newcomer section at the 7th Jaypur International Film Festival in India, and bagged two awards–Best Film and Best Actor–at the 19th Avanca International Film Festival in Portugal.
It was also screened in the competitive section in the 6th Fiji International Film Festival, and received Asian Cinema Fund at the 19th Busan Film festival, where it premiered at the New Currents section.
Jalaler Golpo is a story of a rootless boy and his struggles to establish himself in the social hierarchy. It cast includes Mosharraf Karim, Moushumi Hamid, Toukir Ahmed, Shormi Mala, Nure-e-alam Nayan, Mitali Das, Arafat Rahman and Mohammad Emon.
