Jamaican international winger Akeem Priestley attended a trial on Monday to play for the Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra in the upcoming season.
The 28-year-old Priestley, who arrived on Sunday, had a light training session at the BKSP on the first day of his trial.
Priestley, who played club football in Russia, Azerbaijan, America and Argentina, represented the Jamaica national team for six matches from 2005-06 to score two goals.
He is only the second Jamaican to come to play in Bangladesh after Ricardo Cousin, who also played for Russell in the last season.
‘I heard that Russell is a good and professional team and I know they played in the AFC President’s Cup,’ Priestley told reporters. ‘So, I want to be a part of this club.’
This is the first time that Priestley has come to Asia. Before arriving at Dhaka he got some information about Bangladesh football through Cousin and also from former Russell’s Haitian Pascal Millien, who is a friend of him.
‘My two friends Cousin and Millien played here and they told me about the league. I want to play to the best of my ability and show my professionalism,’ said the Jamaican.
