The Lone Ranger star Johney Depp may be one of the biggest, richest A-listers in Hollywood, but the 50-year-old actor may be ready to step down from the spotlight in the next few years. During a recent interview with BBC to promote the U.K. release of The Lone Ranger, Depp admitted that he may quit acting,

‘I wouldn’t say that I’m dropping out any second, but I would say it’s probably not too far away,’ he admitted. ‘At a certain point, you start thinking, and when
you add up the amount of dialogue that
you say per year, for example, and you
realize that you’ve said written words more than you’ve actually had a chance to say your own words, you start thinking of that as a kind of insane option for a human being.’
Depp, who recently split with longtime partner Vanessa Paradis and rebounded with Amber Heard, added: ‘So, are
there quieter things that I wouldn’t mind doing, you know? Yeah, I wouldn’t mind that.’
His notion on taking a step back is
nothing new, either. The actor, who made an estimated $30 million in 2012,
previously discussed a possible retirement to ‘just take it down to the bare minimum and concentrate on, I guess, living life’ during a June 2013 interview with Rolling Stone.
After a memorably bloody turn in 1984’s Nightmare on Elm Street, Depp first became a household name in 1987 when he played Officer Tom Hanson in the TV series 21 Jump Street. He later went on to have huge box office success in films like Edward Scissorhands, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
