Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team tasted their first defeat in their tour of South Africa as they lost to the hosts by seven wickets in the third youth one-day international match at Pietermaritzburg on Friday. Young Tigers scored a modest 165 all-out in 49.2 overs before the Proteas chased down the score successfully with seven wickets and 73 balls to spare. Opener Liam smith scored 89 not out and Wein Mulder made 39 not out to make a 93-run unbeaten partnership to take their side home.
Rifat Pradhan, Mosabbek Hossain and Saleh Ahmed picked one wicket apiece for Bangladesh.
Earlier, Bangladesh lost the toss and made a very average batting performance as none of their batsmen could score over 30. Mosabbek scored highest 29, batting at number eight and Mohammad Saifuddin scored 25.
Off-spinner Den Foxcroft picked up three wickets while Conor McKerr and Mulder got two wickets apiece.
Bangladesh lead the seven-match series 2-1. The fourth match of the series is scheduled to take place on Sunday at the same venue.
