The parliament resumes its session at 4:4pm today after a 10-day recess.
The house is expected to approve a number of bills, including the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill which proposed passage into law of two ordinances promulgated by the immediate-past interim government bringing about changes to the code making the lower judiciary independent of the executive, in a couple of days.
The parliamentary standing committee on the law ministry is likely to place its report in the house on the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill today.
The session, which began on January 25, was adjourned on March 5 for 10 days, to avoid calling another session before the budget session.
The parliament speaker, Abdul Hamid, on March 5 said the session was adjourned until March 15 to avoid holding of another session before the budget session in June.
He said the parliament could run till the end of March, subject to the approval of the business advisory committee, which, according to the Rules of Procedure, decides the working days of every session.
This is for second time after January 25 the working days of the first session of the ninth parliament were changed.
The business advisory committee, headed by the speaker, at its first meeting on January 28, decided to continue with the session until February 26.
But the second meeting of the committee on February 25 decided to continue with the session until February 12.
According to parliamentary practices, budget session starts early June every year. According to the constitution, the parliament must sit within every 60 days.
