Jahangirnagar University teachers on Monday decided to take scheduled semester final and year final examinations but they would not take classes until their
demand for the resignation of the vice-chancellors was met.
The teachers made the decision after 15 days of work abstention on various demands.
The decision was made at an emergency general meeting of the JU Teachers’ Association held at Zhair Raihan Auditorium of the university.
The teachers’ body also decided to continue their ongoing movement demanding the resignation of the VC, Professor Anwar Hossain.
Alleging the VC’s irregularities, nepotism, reluctance to punish attackers on teachers, failure to ensure security on campus, the teachers’ body has been continuing work abstention since April 25.
JUTA secretary Professor Sharif Uddin said the work abstention programmes would continue until the next general meeting to be held after the month-long summer vacation from May 18.
Campus sources said all academic activities at
the university came to a halt for the ongoing movement.
